RBS Manufacturing Division: HUB magazine



Challenge
How do you communicate to a diverse workforce of over 27,000, spread across multiple locations – everyone from call centre employees to IT and systems support staff, architects to accountants – enabling them to understand group objectives, share best practice, deliver competitive advantage and understand their role in efficiency and effectiveness delivery?
Response
We merged all of their existing printed comms channels together, creating hub – a lively, readable and informative magazine in a pocket-sized format and also available on-line. In a crowded market with huge competition for time and attention we gave hub the quality and ‘must read’ values of a news-stand publication.
An award winning approach ensures hub delivers an overview of the whole RBS Manufacturing Division, its people, plans, change activity and objectives; aiding the readers’ understanding of wider strategic goals and their role in helping to deliver them.
Result
Over 87% of staff viewed hub as essential to understanding business developments, strategic goals and the bigger group picture, a fact reiterated in every piece of research undertaken. Its effectiveness was also recognised in the industry, where it has won a string of awards from CiB UK, PPA and FEIFA, culminating in the overall Gold Award for outstanding communication at CiB Scotland.
