The Improvement Service: Good Practice Case Studies

Challenge
At their annual conference, Heads of Planning from throughout Scotland were asked by The Scottish Government to provide a brief outline of successful projects and processes in town and urban planning.
The Government wanted these to be developed by the Knowledge Management Team from the Improvement Service into a series of good practice case studies for publication on the Scottish Government website. The Improvement Service needed skilled editorial support to help produce these.
Response
Redhouse Lane writers were supplied with contact details and a brief description of the example of best practice for each case study. We researched and interviewed contacts, mostly planners in Local Authorities around Scotland, writing up the projects in more detail and to a standard format which could be published online and in print.
Result
So far the Government has published the first 42 of them, with targets set for many more. The feedback has been highly positive and is helping to develop a standardised approach to best planning practice throughout Scotland. To quote the client “This is all great stuff. Thanks a lot. It's exactly what we are looking for.”
